Why Flowers in the Front Yard?
I was tired of the lawn mower, of cutting the grass,
the noise, the smell, the pollution - the gas.
No toads, no butterflies, no bees and few birds.
Only grubs, dandelions, thistles and dog turds.
So I removed the lawn and planted a garden retreat,
and not a blade of grass remained from house to street,
My garden bloomed, spring and summer and fall,
It was so quiet - I did not miss the mower at all!
Then wildlife and numerous neighbours arrived,
Of flowers and colours they'd been deprived!
They saw how beautiful a front yard could be.
Can I have a garden like yours they asked me?
I decided to help - I gave them my card...
Because they too wanted Flowers in the Front Yard.
